Luxury Homes and Properties in Portland

The term ‘luxury’ can mean many things to many different people and it’s all relative depending on what you consider luxury or not. The definition of a luxury home in general United States is typically homes appraised over $1 million but again, this varies since in Washington DC a $1 million home is the standard.

But in Portland, $1 million can buy you quite a lot whether you’re looking for acreage, luxury amenities, house size, or location. Portland’s top luxury real estate neighborhoods include Sylvan and Northwest Heights, Arlington Heights, Forest Park, Bridlemile, and Hillside which is located high above the city. Enjoy breathtaking and unobstructed views of the river and the mountains which get you in touch with nature at over 130 acres of parks and open space in Hillside alone. Home prices in this community range around $800,000 to 1.5 million.

Other communities include Bridlemile which is home to a little over 5000 residents with nearly and 80% homeownership percentage rate. The average home price in Bridlemile, also called Southwest Hills, runs about $700-$800,000 and provides a little bit of acreage and land per home.

Arlington Heights is located west of downtown Portland overlooking the beautiful city skyline. The average home price here is about $700,000 with a smaller population of about 500. Forest Park is located northwest of downtown Portland just North of Beaverton and Oak Hills up against Forest Park itself. This is an extremely forested area with over 5000 acres of parks, open space, and over 40 miles of trails. These beautiful estates in this home started about $500-$600,000 and they are nestled in amongst rolling Hills and pastures with newer developments and existing large estates.

Sylvan and Northwest Heights is located just south of Forest Park and about 10 to 15 minutes from downtown Portland. It’s also located north of Beaverton and easily accessible along the Sunset Highway. This neighborhood has a population of about 4500 residents with 83% homeownership. There’s nearly 300 acres of parks and home started about $500,000 and can easily range over $1 million for beautiful single-family homes with four and five bedrooms, luxurious amenities, extremely large floor plans of over 5000 ft.² and larger lots.

Are you starting to see a pattern? Most of Portland’s luxury real estate markets within the downtown metropolitan area are located west of city center. This is a less populated area with a lot more forested areas.
