On July 18th, Daimler Trucks North America broke ground and began construction on its new $150 million headquarters on Swan Island in Portland, OR. Governor John Kitzhaber, along with Portland Mayor Charlie Hales, and Daimler SEO Martin Daum were in attendance.
This major project will create hundreds of family-wage jobs in Oregon. The new 265,000-square-foot corporate headquarters will fulfill two distinct purposes: to merge the company’s employees currently located in separate offices on either side of the Willamette River and to accommodate hundreds of new positions in Portland that Daimler anticipates it will need for future business growth.
This major construction will create hundreds of new family-wage jobs in Oregon and is expected to be completed in 2016.
