Home Builders Seem Optimistic on New Construction in Portland
According to the Associated Press, "US homebuilders are feeling more confident in their sales prospects for the second half of the year, reflecting improved demand and stronger sales of new homes in recent months."
Home construction is picking up as we go on through 2014 and new developments, subdivisions, and communities are popping up throughout the suburbs of Portland and the Portland metro area. The national Association of home builders and the Wells Fargo builder sentiment index rose up four points in June meaning that more builders consider sales conditions as positive rather than negative.

Although many sales have stalled throughout the Portland area, home builders in new construction prospects still remain optimistic that the Portland area will continue to increase throughout the rest of the year with new subdivisions and developments. Homes are still selling, builders are completing custom designs on time, and prices continue to gradually rise. [Source]
Many homebuilders will not list their homes on the MLS so you're likely to find new construction through a dedicated buyers agent that specializes in finding newer homes or new construction. Pre-construction is also a great way to get in on the ground floor of new homes by choosing colors, designs, and materials.
