Homes under $300,000
If you’ve been interested in buying a home or condominium in Portland Oregon it’s important to know what price ranges are most predominant. Portland average home prices between $280,000 and about $340,000 but there are several under the $300,000 mark as well.
One of the keys to finding a home under $300,000 is to look outside of the downtown area. There are typically not many homes, especially single-family homes for sale under $300,000 in the downtown area such as University Park, the Pearl district, and John’s Landing. But if you get outside of the downtown area such as in Beaverton, Tigard, Gresham, and many homes over by the Hazelwood area, home prices drop dramatically. You may also find more residential neighborhoods than in downtown and be closer to schools and community parks.
In the Beaverton area there are several townhomes, manufactured homes, and smaller single-family homes under $300,000. Anything under $120,000 is usually going to be a small condominium, town home, or manufactured home. Over $150,000 you’re going to be getting into more of the single-family home with one to three bedrooms and sizes of around 1000 ft.². The age of these homes vary from older single-family homes to newer condominiums all within the same price range. Newer condominiums or lofts can be about $170,000, which is the same price as an older home of less than 1000 ft.² and maybe fall into the historical or vintage era.

Most of the single-family homes are going to be over by Hazelwood, Montavilla, Russell and Gresham with smaller homes priced between $150,000 and about $200,000. There are some fantastic homes, condominiums, duplexes, and townhomes right around the $250,000-$290,000 mark. At this point the options and amenities vary greatly, from condominiums on Hayden Island, single-family homes with two car garages, and vintage homes on larger lots.
