It seems just about anywhere you go in Portland these days you see a building under construction. And statistically that’s correct. Portland is in the middle of a major building boom. According to one report 5,200 new residential units came on the market in late 2012 and 2013. An additional 5,000 residential units are planned to surface by the end of 2014.

As the current market of our city changes, we’re starting to see taller buildings, more complicated architecture, and whole neighborhoods redesigned.

1. The Tilikum Crossing connecting all inner districts.

2. Connected by light rail, streetcar, tram, and the Tilikum Crossing, the southern reaches of both sides of the Willamette are predicted to become an “innovation quadrant,” linking Portland State University, OHSU, the OMSI, and Portland Community College.

3. The North Pearl becoming bigger and taller part of the city.

4. The Rose Quarter expanding down closer to the river connecting to the core of Portland.

5. The Lloyd District developing into a second downtown area.

6. East Burnside and NE Sandy are set to become major developing opportunities.
