St. Johns Bizarre – 8th Annual Beards, Beer and Bands by the Bridge
St. Johns, located in North Portland just across the Columbia River, is holding its 8th annual Beards, Beer and Bands by the Bridge Bizarre on May 10th, 2014. St. Johns is an eclectic and creative place to call home and this Saturday, all the whimsical people from all over the Portland and Vancouver area will gather to celebrate this fun event.
Here is what’s happening on May 10th at the Bizarre:
Admission is FREE
Time is 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Location is N. Lombard St. and N. Philadelphia Ave.
What: a Celebration of community with local music and bands, street performers, farmers market and vendors, lots of delicious food, like pizza, sausage, and a fabulous Beer Garden.
There will even be activities for the kids with crafts, games and art. This truly is the street fair that kicks off the summer of fairs for the Portland area.
The main sponsor this year is the Occidental Brewing Co. as well as other local venues and businesses. This festival is run by volunteers relying on sponsors and community groups to fund the Bizarre. This neighborhood effort brings the community together as a whole creating an eclectic and alive part of town.
Music: It’s all about the music at the Bizarre with great live music from Ural Thomas, Illmaculate, Aan, Summer Cannibals and Red Yarn & the Deep Woods Ramblers.
Contests: A beard and mustache competition courtesy of Portland Beard Company. This “Celebration of Beards” will be judged in several categories including freestyle, kids and whiskerina.
There will also be a parade, which is now in it’s 52nd year!
Don’t miss this years most unique event. Everyone will be there and because it’s free, it’s a great family event. Come on out!
